When it comes to Sports and the psychology behind what it takes to be successful it has been proven time and again that having the mental edge makes all the difference.
Study after study of many great athletes; has shown that when you take a group of athletes with equal ability, those that receive mental training will outperform those that did not. You may wonder why? The answer is fairly simple. No Matter what your ability, your mood will always have an impact on your performance, and when you prepare, not just your body, but also your mind, you will have the mental edge to perform better.
Key elements of winning for most successful athletes are desire, passion, dedication, and enthusiasm, and the list grows bigger, but when it comes to performing when it counts having a mental edge is key.
Have you ever considered that whatever you have done had to start somewhere? That’s right before you got to do it you had to think about it. Your thoughts are powerful forces and your mind used in a positive way, will give you the mental edge.

Believe it or not, your mind is in control of your body, and where the mind goes the body will follow. You can through various simple techniques get to harness the power of your mind to improve your performance.
One very easy technique that many top athletes use with great success is to mentally rehearse the next event in their minds. Find your own internal place where your mind can take you before any event and use all your senses, see, feel, hear, smell and even taste, to rehearse what you want to do, with success. Prepare yourself mentally for everything that can occur. Play the game in your mind over and over with success as the outcome.
Many helpful techniques can help you successfully gain your mental edge as long as you are willing to practice, not just your body, but also your mind.
