Have you ever gone into an event with loads of expectation and excitement, just not to perform as well as you where hoping for? I can tell you many a story of athletes coming back after an event or game, not achieving their goal. How you deal with this as an athlete, parent or coach, is very important.
Yes, every event is an opportunity to either achieve what you worked for, or to be disappointing. As any athlete will tell you, this is all part of doing sport. Often expectations are high and then something happens that impacts, in an way that leaves you not achieving what you where working towards.
Setbacks is something that all champions have experienced sometime in their career and this could be because of many factors e.g. Injuries and ill health, not performing well at an event that you worked so hard for, not being selected or not making the cut etc. Some setbacks can be life changing, however it remains incredibly inspiring to see how some athletes comeback after a setback.
Wouldn't you want to learn more about how you can overcome these setbacks or maybe help others to navigate through difficult times? As athlete you can get some tools to reframe and overcome some of your setbacks. As coach and parent you can obtain some insight in how you can help your child or athlete to overcome setbacks.
